You need to find an affordable destination that offers entertainment for the children, relaxing beaches for you, and great sights for dad. If you’ve spent the last few years visiting the same destination and are looking for something new, you’re in luck.

Here are five alternative holiday destinations for families:

    1. Lapland

Who said you holiday had to be in the summer?

If you have young children, what could be better than taking a trip to see Santa and his reindeer in Lapland? Experience the magic of Christmas with real snow, sleigh rides, and cosy log cabins. Your youngsters will get to meet St. Nick himself and have a Yuletide they will remember forever. This alternative destination offers so much, so is well worth looking into.

    2. Skiing in Austria

One of the best alternative holidays for families would be going skiing in The Alps. Not only can you get out and enjoy sports as a family, but you can enjoy the sights Austria has to offer. Spend quality time together in the day – both on and off the slopes – and relax in log cabins in the evening.

Even if you’ve never skied before, this is a great opportunity to learn. Ski breaks are a great alternative for families who want to do something more than top up their tans on the beach. There is also plenty to do off the slopes in Austria for those days when you want to get out and about.

    3. Safari in Africa

If you have a big budget or are looking for a ‘once in a lifetime’ vacation, going on safari in Africa could be perfect.

You will get to see stunning wildlife as it should be seen, and get to experience a completely different culture. Children of all ages will relish the opportunity to go on an adventure holiday, and will have great memories forever.

The whole of Africa is becoming a hugely popular holiday destination, so it’s worth checking out alternative locations here if a Safari is too costly.

    4. Adventures in Florida

There is more to Florida than Disney Land. In fact, venturing to the Golden Cost can offer a jam-packed adventure holiday, or the ultimate in luxury relaxation.

Why not head to the Kennedy Space Centre one day, and Gator Land another? If theme parks are your thing, Busch Gardens is a smaller but just as exciting venue. You can still enjoy the traditional parks Orlando has to offer, but visit some of these alternative locations too.

    5. Sightseeing in London

City breaks are becoming increasingly popular as budgets get squeezed. If you’re looking for a great city break for all the family, why not head to London?

You can take a trip down the River Thames, visit Buckingham Palace, or see the sites from the top of the London Eye. On top of this, there are a whole host of museums, galleries and attractions that will keep your family busy all day long.

Your family holiday doesn’t have to follow the normal conventions. In fact, before booking this years’ vacation, why don’t you consider one of these great alternative holiday destinations for families?
