Camping must be one of the most exciting ways to spend time together as a family. It’s one of those hobbies that nobody will ever get bored of because when you’re lying under the stars there’s no better feeling in the world. The only time it gets tough is when you like your food a little too much. If you’re used to cooking high-quality meals at home then when you first start camping it can be a shock to the system. You have to get used to cooking all over again in a different environment and it can be tough, but it’s something that has to be done.

If you end up hating the food you eat when you go camping you will end up resenting it. You’ve meant to look back on these memories as some of the best times in your life and not the time when you had to eat a tin of beans because you couldn’t cook anything fancy. Did you know there’s some people out there who cook make anything? You can be sitting under the stars but you’d think you were in a 5-star restaurant. It’s all to do with the cooking equipment you take with you, so we’re going to look at some things you need to cook great food.

    Car fridge freezer

You’re going to be taking your car when you go camping and it would be much better if it came installed with a fridge freezer in the back. Once you have one of these the kind of food you can take with you reaches a new level. There’s nothing stopping you from fishing or hunting for your own food, but when you can pack your favorite meats just in-case you don’t catch anything you’ll never be short of amazing food. It also guarantees it stays fresh until it lands on the grill.

    Camping table and chairs

    Breakfast spaghetti

When you cook your lovely food the last thing you want to be doing is eating it while sitting on the ground. It will take away the luxury taste that’s about to explode inside your mouth. That doesn’t mean to say you need a big wooden table and lots of chairs. Just some folding ones will suffice. You just want somewhere to lay your plate and a seat to rest yourself as you tuck into your meal.

    InstaStart grill stove

You want the best grill you can get your hands on and this Coleman model isn’t too shabby. One of the best things about it is the fact you don’t need to use anything to light it, which is actually done by pushing a button. It’s also designed so it can stay lighten in windy conditions if you have it at the right angle. Cooking on a proper stove/grill is going to ensure you don’t need to think about your equipment while concentrating on your meal.

    A food flask

You aren’t going to be sitting around camp every day and that means you need something to take your food on the road while you go hiking. If you have a decent food flask you get to take all that amazing food with you wherever you go. If you’ve made some stew or curry at night a food flask will let you fill it up with at least one meal. Hopefully some hot food will be enough to fill your stomach while you’re out walking for the day, though you can still stuff your pockets with anything you want.

    Portable outdoor wok

If you’re looking to have as much room as possible to test some amazing new foods then taking a portable wok with you will be a lot of fun. You’ll obviously have one of these in the kitchen at home and no doubt you’ll know the vast range of things you can use it for. It makes the perfect companion for the grill and when you’ve got two of them going at the same time it means there’s going to be a nice banquet on the cards.
