Lanzarote is a real beach lover’s paradise. Here is a list of wonderful things to do during your trip.
- The Island is part of the Canary archipelago which is made up of seven islands. The entire archipelago is less than 500 km across, which means you can easily access the other islands if you feel adventurous. Fuerteventura, for example, is easily accessible by Ferry. The ride takes only 20 minutes. There are also flights to Gran Canaria or Tenerife, from where you can visit all the other islands.
- The moon-like aspect of the region is mesmerizing. While the relief is bizarre in the southern part, the northern part of the island is characterized by a gentle greenness. Take your time to explore the unspoiled beauty of the beaches, forests and rolling hills. The most beautiful coastlines for example, can be found off the beaten track, which also means that they are more intimate and pristine.

The great architect Cesar Manrique has created the perfect route through this lunar like paradise. He is also the one who designed the El Diablo restaurant, which is located at the top of the Islote de Hilario. The restaurant has a superb location, and offers excellent views, especially of the sunset.
- The Green Caves are a delight for intrepid tourists. They are basically a system of caves, and tunnels formed by the volcanoes, which create astonishing optical illusions. If you decide to visit this unique place, you will be given a guided tour through the beautifully lit crevices.
- Situated in the northern part of the island, in Guatiza, is one of the most popular attractions on the island. The Cactus Garden is home to the most extensive collection of cacti which have been displayed in an interesting way. There is no way to miss the garden, because it is guarded by a huge, eight meter high, green, metallic sculpture of a cactus. The garden was designed by the genius architect, Cesar Manrique, and the motif of the cactus flower can be seen everywhere, on door handles, and other architectural elements.
