Elephant Round – Up Festival
Venue: Sinarong Stadium, Surin
Come and experience an elephant show or the Elephant Round Up which presents the bond between man and elephant in the culture and tradition of the people of Surin. It also presents the daily life of the Phaen locals and the tradition of worshipping Phi Pakam. It presents the elephants in their natural habitat.
This will show how the elephants are led from the forest to the house herding the elephants and breaking them in. You will be speechless at the re-enactment of the battle scenes of yesteryear depicting how a battle, led by a King, would have looked like.
Come and watch Surin local customs and cultural shows. See the elephants play and compete in the games. Additionally, there will be exhibitions in the Red Cross Fair actively attended by the public and private sectors to sell local produce and to launch festivities.

Loi Kratong Tam Prathip Festival

Loi Krathong Sai Festival
Venue: Mae Ping River, Tak
This is another style of Loi Krathong Festival so called Tak’s 1,000 flame-light Loi Krathong Sai Festival. The unique Krathong made from coconut shells and filled with comustible material, lit up and then floated in single file can be very enchanting. According to the locals of Tak, the Ping River is never prettier than where it passes Tak against a backdrop of sandy banks and mountains. That is why the Loi Krathong Sai Festival is organized on the banks to take advantage of this view.

Chiang Mai Yi Peng Festival

Come and experience another form of Loi Krathong festival, in Lanna Thai style. This festival creates a mesmerizing sight, a unique ritual of the northern capital’s Loi Krathong festival by launching of Lanna-style hot air balloons, considered by locals to rid them of their troubles.

Sukhothai Loi Krathong and Candle Festival
Venue: Sukhothai Historical Park, Sukhothai
You are invited to the Loi Krathong in Sukhothai Historical Park. This is the tradition derived from traditional beliefs common to communities living along the banks of a river or waterway. There has become a need to worship and supplicate the Khongkha to avoid bad luck, to worship the gods in the Brahimin tradition, or to revere the Buddha’s footprint.
These celebrations are normally organized in the 12th month when the tide is high and the air is cool. The Krathong or floats have been made in the form of lotus. There is also a reference, in the Sila Charuek, to Candle Lighting and Playing with Firework in a grand festival believed to be similar to the candle lighting and firework as practiced in the current Loi Krathong festival.
In this festival, you will watch Nang Nopphamat procession, exhibitions, and lighting of lanterns at the historical site, Krathong and fireworks over all waterways, and Krathong competition. Come and enjoy Sukhothai light and sound presentation, with cultural dances and festivities.

Loi Krathong Festival
Venue: Nationwide
Loi Krathong, a tradition influenced by the Indian Lantern or Diwali Festival, in which floats are made in worship of the three Brahmin Gods: Bhrama,Vishun and Shiva, reflects the belief adapted to fit in with the Thai farmers’way of life depending upon the flow of water. Loi Krathong festival is held now to pay obeisance to the goddess of water, Phra Mae Khongkha.
The Krathong or float is normally shaped as a lotus made of locally available materials. The float decorated with incense and candles will be allowed to float along with the flow of the river. With the krathongs on their way, there would normally be fireworks and firecrackers, as well as, other enjoyable festivities: Kratong competition, Nang Nopphamat Pageant Contest and Loi Krathong Games.
