    A Quick Guide to Cancun

When I were a lad, Cancun was out of reach for most British holidaymakers and could only be afforded by the rich and famous. Not any more. There are a myriad of cheap vacation packages and deals to take ordinary Joe from boring and bleak Britain to the sun and fun of Mexico. Cancun might be your ultimate holiday destination or you might be combining one of the fantastic cruise deals now available with a “stay and play” deal. Whatever takes you to Cancun, let us help you make the most out of your time there and truly help you to have a holiday to remember.

Watersports – interested in snorkelling, scuba-diving or even hiring a boat and sailing the Gulf of Mexico yourself? All of this and more is available. The Great Mesoamerican Reef is the second largest reef in the world, stretching 450 miles from Punta Nizuc in Cancun all the way to Honduras! There are vastly varying levels of competency catered for and even the most inexperienced of divers or snorkellers will find an opportunity to enjoy the underwater sea-life.

Adventure– swimming with dolphins, jungle jeep tours or mountain biking are a few suggestions for active adventure pursuits in and around Cancun.

Get in touch with nature – excursions to eco theme parks are popular from Cancun. One of the largest and most-visited is Xcaret, while Xel-Ha is a natural aquarium and one of the world’s biggest. Monkeys, whale sharks, flamingos, crocodiles, marine turtles and much, much more can be seen in their natural habitats on a visit to one of the nature reserves in the area.

Mayan Culture – The Mayans were among the original peoples of the Americas, living mostly on the Yucatan Peninsula. Their architecture is so important that Chichen Itza has been named as one of the seven wonders of the world, having been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for over 20 years. This site is about 117 miles from Cancun and is a long but worthwhile day-trip on many visitors’ must-see lists. Tulum, Coba, Ek Balam and other Mayan sites are also within travelling distance of Cancun.

Golf – What attracts golfers to Cancun? Fantastic weather? Beautiful scenery? Professional standard courses designed by a list of Who’s Who in golf? That and more. If there wasn’t so much else to see and do, you could lose yourself in golf all day, every day in and around Cancun.

Spas – There are more than thirty spa resorts to spoil you for choice in Cancun and the range of treatments available should more than satisfy the most seasoned of spa-goers. From Mayan massages to Thalassotherapy and everything in between, you need only worry about fitting it all in during your stay.

Shopping – Would you like to be in a duty-free resort that offers high-end designer shopping in uber-cool malls or a place where you can wander among local artisans and pick up authentic Mexican craftwork? How about a place that offers both and manages to fill all the gaps between those two extremes as well? Cancun truly caters to every type of shopper on every type of budget.

Beaches, Restaurants and Nightlife – this is where it all started for Cancun as a tourist destination and those essentials are still there, still being enjoyed and still being improved to round off a truly unique and memorable holiday experience for all those lucky enough find themselves in one of the true treasures of the Caribbean.
