Berlin Zoo (http://www.zoo-berlin.de) is somewhere many of the locals head to as it’s great first date territory. If you’re planning a trip to the city then this is an unusual and fun place to take your loved one for a wander around the enclosures to see the animals, including a little polar bear called Knut who has become quite the celebrity in Germany for his incredible cuteness.
Berlin is less than half the size of London so it’s easy to get around on foot and see everything that the city has to offer in a couple of days. The Brandenburg Gate is one of the city’s former gates and a major symbol of both Berlin and Germany. The Tiergarten is located in Mitte in central Berlin and is a huge urban park where you can spend the days wondering around hand in hand under the trees, gazing at the lakes. Be sure to also check out the Siegessäule (the Victory Column), as it’s a pretty central part of Berlin, being the location of the start of the Berlin Marathon and the annual Love Parade.

Going Out in Berlin
Whatever type of couple you are and whatever your idea of a romantic night out – whether you prefer moonlit strolls along the streets or a night of techno in a crowded club – Berlin has something to offer. You can sign up for one of the ‘nightwalks’ which will take you around the city, with stops at bars and restaurants on the way, or you can simply plan your own route and perhaps focus on an up and coming area of new pubs and bars like Savignyplatz in Charlottenburg. There are also lots of fabulous jazz clubs to try – such as Quasimodo (http://www.quasimodo.de) and A-Trane (http://www.a-trane.de) and plenty of intimate bars where you can wile away the hours gazing at each other over a flickering candle flame. If you are a clubbing couple then you have come to the right place as Berlin has one of the most varied and cutting edge club scenes in Europe. Check out the wacky décor and eclectic mix of nights at the King Kong Club (http://www.king-kong-klub.de)
