– The Armado Nervo Museum
This must-see museum features the photographs and writings of famed Mexican poet Armado Nervo. The museum is located in the home in which Nervo was born and creates a very intimate and personalized display of the artist’s work. Nervo was a prized member of the community and was the Mexican Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay in his lifetime. He is most well known for his use of metaphor and references to romantic and religious themes, drawing on both Christian and Hindu influences. He is often regarded as one of the most important Mexican poets of the 19th century.

The huge cathedral is very welcoming to new visitors and holds regular services and activities for locals as well as tourists. The cathedral features a beautiful, detailed dome over the alter and various antique and complex designs featured all over the interior of the cathedral.
– Ceboruco Volcano
If you’ve ever wanted to experience what a real live volcano looks like, Nayarit is the place to be with the famous Ceboruco Volcano. The volcano is located near the town of Jala, where visitors can travel up a an 11 kilometer dirt road up the side of the mountain. The hike is picturesque in and of itself with the beautiful surrounding vegetation and lava remnants of the last volcano eruption in 1879. Seeing this volcano up close is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is both refreshing and educational.

The awe-inspiring town of La Yesca is within walking distance of Ixtlán del RÃo and offers plenty of attractions to keep you busy and enjoying a full Nayarit experience without spending a lot of money. With its signature red tile roofed houses, La Yesca is a quaint area for experiencing a new culture and perhaps doing a little hiking up the La Yesca mountain in the area, which reaches 2,830 meters above sea level. One of the most unique features of the city is the beautiful cathedral, which allows visitors to climb on the roof and see the city from a breathtaking perspective.
