If you’d like to give more than flowers & chocs as a ‘Thank You’ to your mum this Mother’s Day, take a look at our Top 5 of things you can do that suit all budgets as well…
Theatre Breaks
Nothing says ‘I thank you’ better than whisking your mum away on a 4 star theatre break to see the show of her choice in the bright lights of London’s West End. There are so many new shows treading the boards this year too so the choice of shows for your mum to see are endless. Of course, there are the classics such as Les Misérables, Phantom Of The Opera and Billy Elliot but why not take her to see something new such as The Bodyguard, Viva Forever or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? Beforehand you could nip into a quaint café or restaurant within the vicinity of the theatre and have a bite to eat then take your seats for an evening of great entertainment. The beauty of a theatre coach break is that once the show is finished, you hop on-board your coach and it will take you to a beautiful 4 star hotel where you’ll enjoy an overnight stay followed by breakfast in the morning plus a spot of shopping before heading home. What a perfect Mother’s Day gift huh?
Shopping Weekends
Unless you live on Planet Zog, it’s fair to say that women absolutely love to shop and what better way of doing this than hopping on a Shopper Break? Another perfect gift idea as you won’t have to worry about trying to navigate your way to the shopping venue, just board the coach, sit back, enjoy the view and let the driver get you to your destination. Once your mum has finished with her days shopping, she can pop her purchases in the hold whilst she is whisked to a quality hotel for an overnight stay before either heading back to the shops or be taken home. There are many fabulous Shopping Centres to visit in the UK such as Bluewater, Lakeside, The Bullring or Trafford Centre and not forgetting the delights of the shopping districts in London. Should you wish to really treat your mum this Mother’s Day, why not whisk her away to the boutiques of Paris, Milan, Barcelona and if the budget has no limit, ever thought of Las Vegas?
Mini Cruise
Here’s something a little different this Mother’s Day if your mum loves the water – take her on a mini cruise? Travel to your local port where you’ll meet your boat for the mini cruise of your choice. Take your mum to Amsterdam where you can enjoy the delights of the city as well as a relaxing cruise along the beautiful waterways, maybe combine it with a trip to the famous Keukenhof Gardens? If she’s already been to Amsterdam, maybe a change is on the cards, so take her to Bruges where you can enjoy the entertainment and marvellous cuisine on-board before the ship docks and you get to discover the sights of Bruges – remember to visit the chocolate shops and bring a treat or two home!
Sporting Events
It must seem a bit weird to you mentioning the option of taking your mum to sporting events but there are some mums out there who enjoy supporting a football team, following what’s happening on the grand prix circuit or placing a bet at a major horse-racing event. There are so many amazing events suitable for all those sports mad mums out there such as the British Grand Prix or taking a stadium tour of their favourite football club such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd. If your mum loves to ‘glam it up’ why not consider taking her to Ladies Day at Ascot, The Grand National or perhaps the Cheltenham Gold Cup? Other popular sporting events include: Wimbledon, the Tour de France or the International Horse Show – definitely something for everyone this Mother’s Day!
City Breaks
There doesn’t always have to be a theme to the break that you purchase for your mum, you could simply just book a night or two in a hotel and whisk her away to somewhere lovely where she can really put her feet up and relax. City breaks are a great idea as they usually only incorporate a night or two in a hotel with plenty of free time for shopping, sightseeing, pampering or relaxation. If she’s had enough of the cold weather here in the UK why not treat her to a mini break in Barcelona, Rome or Paris this Mother’s Day? If money’s no object then hop on a flight to Las Vegas, New York or Vancouver? The options are endless these days seeing as the transport connections have improved somewhat and I’m sure your mum will love it!
