Packing your suitcase for a cruise can be both thrilling and confusing. On the one hand you can’t wait to set sail on your cruise holiday, while on the other you might have absolutely no idea what to take with you.
Never fear though, for help is at hand. If you’ve packed your clothes and now have no idea where to go from there, use our handy checklist:
Important documents
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Passport(s)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Visas (if required)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Flight tickets (if required)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Cruise booking forms
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Medical insurance card
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Copies of prescriptions (cruise personnel may ask you to prove that any prescription medication you bring on board is legal)
These should be the first things you pack, as without them you won’t even be able to set off. It can also be a good idea to purchase a document wallet to carry them all in – that way you can keep everything together.
Electrical products
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Plug adaptors
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Mobile phone
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Mobile charger
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Digital camera
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Digital camera charger, batteries, memory cards, etc.
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Laptop
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â iPod/mp3 player
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Travel alarm clock
As all cruise lines vary, some of the items on this list might not be essential. You should always check what kind of facilities your cabin will come with before packing items such as adaptors and alarm clocks, as you could end up wasting valuable suitcase space if they’re already provided. Also, remember that items such as clothes irons and shirt presses are prohibited on cruise ships due to the risk of fire they can some with.
Medicine and first aid kit
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Prescription drugs (pack these in a carry-on bag)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Travel sickness medication (just in case!)
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Sun cream
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Plasters and bandages
While the cruise ship will undoubtedly be able to provide you with plasters and medication if required, taking your own can remove a lot of the hassle. Remember to only take as much prescription medication as required.
Toiletries and make-up
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Shampoo
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Conditioner
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Body wash
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Face wash
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Toothbrushes
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Toothpaste
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Make-up
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Make-up remover
–Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Facial cleanser
Many people only focus on the clothes they’ll wear when packing for a cruise but, as you can see, there’s actually quite a bit more required for a cruise!

Fantastic tips, I almost always forget something when I travel and after I arrive to my destination I need to purchase something I forgot back home. You know that if you buy something while you are on a cruise you are going to pay way more than if you just bought it at your local store so I find this list to be amazing. And the plug adaptor is so important! Specially if you are travelling from America to Europe, thanks!
