Exploring Alaska as a Solo Traveller

While many adventure travellers prefer a holiday with more white knuckle thrills than most not every traveller is the same. Many people would prefer a trip that is a little more laid back within smaller groups where they can truly experience the destination.

One of the most exciting places to experience singles holidays is within the spectacular landscapes of Alaska, home to an absolutely vast landscape for you to lose yourself in.

    Anchorage

First on your stop of Alaska is the city of Anchorage, a single spot of civilisation, surrounded by a landscape of wilderness, mountains and sheer ice. You can expect extreme contrasts between summer and winter. During summer you can expect the longest daylight hours you have ever experienced, topping 20 hours of day light during July. Consequently during the winter months Anchorage will get less than 6 hours sunlight a day. Anchorage will act as your basecamp for your adventure holidays acting as a refuge in Alaska’s harsh but beautiful landscape.

    Tangle Lakes

Snaking through Alaska for more than 16 miles are the Tangle Lakes and renown for its beautiful views as the sunlight bounces off this vast body of water. Complete with a rich archaeological history spanning thousands of years, thought to have been used primarily as a hunting ground.

    Denali National Park

This national park is a place of extreme contrast. It is not uncommon for someone to witness almost paradoxical landscapes, flowing green meadows set next to harsh rugged mountains. Denali national park is the perfect adventure destination for someone who wants to experience a wide variety of wildlife. The park has a large population of grizzly and black bears as well as lynx, wolverines and foxes.

If you want to experience some of the best views Denali has to offer there is some excellent hiking opportunities for you to take part in. Hiking is simply the best way to take in all of these amazing sights.  One of the best hiking opportunities is the lower points of Mount McKinley which stands at over 20,000 feet, making it the largest mountain in North America.

Alaska has a huge amount to see and do throughout its vast national parks and is best experienced on a guided tour with Trek America whose experience and know how will make sure you get the best out of your trip.
