Prime Minister and Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Tuesday said the government will not pressure Thai courts to speed up graft cases against deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra, even if he should he return to the country.
Mr Abhisit said Thai authorities wanted Thaksin to return to fight his charges in Thailand.
Unconfirmed reports on Thursday said once again that the ex-premier would return to Thailand.
Mr Abhisit asked all sides to respect the law after the news reported that pro-Thaksin United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship would become more active should Thaksin actually return.
Meanwhile, the prime minister started his work at Government House and paid respect at the local shrine at the auspicious hour of 8.19am Tuesday before presiding over the weekly cabinet meeting at 9am.
