Here are some of the key steps for being prepared for a river rafting adventure trip.

    1) Layered clothing

One of the first areas to start with being prepared for a tight intense sporting activity like rafting is to layer the clothing. You often want to start your layered clothing with a swimsuit. Since you are likely to get quite a slashing when rafting on the whitewater rapids, it often helps to be fully prepared for whatever the adventure might bring your way. In the hot summer months you will likely appreciate the swimsuit when river rafting especially if you stop off at a designated resting spot, which can give great opportunity for having a swim in the river.

    2) Lightweight clothing

When rafting in the summertime you might want to wear a collection of lightweight clothing to make certain you are protected from the intense sunlight, whereas for the night-time when it starts to cool you might wish to invest in a sweatshirt or similar article of clothing.

    3) Rest period readiness

On arrival at the resting location for the night-time you will greatly appreciate if you are able to access a dry set of clothing that can keep you warm and comfortable throughout the night. You might want to invest in one of the highly resilient dry bags which will make certain the spare clothing and any other specific items are kept dry no matter how rough the waters might get when river rafting.

    4) Head protection

If you are likely to be spending a significant period of the day paddling under intense sunlight you might want to make certain that you have a hat and sunglasses that you are able to rely on. A hat really needs to fit nice and secure preferably with a chin strap. This will prevent the unfortunate incidence of the hat being blown off down the river in the event of a gust of wind.

    5) Wetsuit protection

In the cooler winter months you might want to look at investing in a high-quality wetsuit which will keep you in more comfort, especially on in the whitewater rafting adventures. If you are just going on a one-off trip and would prefer to avoid paying the full cost for a wetsuit, you often have the option to hire a wetsuit from equipment stores and expedition outfitter.

    6) Rain gear

It is generally advised to always pack rain gear (rubberized top and pants) irrespective of the waters that you might be rafting or the season. Since the weather is always very unpredictable you are never sure of what you might experience when on a rivers in the wilderness, therefore it will always benefit if you are able to have some sort of rain protection for the sudden rainstorms.
