Getting stuff for free is great. Let’s be completely clear though, we are not talking about collecting junk here, but rather useful items that we use or want in everyday life. Gadget upgrades, food, drink, holidays, cars, free digital TV, are all great freebies. Let’s take a look at a few avenues you can try to grab some free swag.
Time to Upgrade?
If you have a mobile phone tariff or a subscription to a digital TV provider you can almost without exception upgrade or extend your current contract or deal online. Do not do this. Instead, phone them up, explain how long you have been a valued customer and point out that you are looking to move your custom elsewhere. You will be amazed how quickly “special deals” start being thrown in your direction. Most large companies just want you to stay with them and keep paying and they’ll often offer some type of upgrade or price reduction to keep a valued customer. Just try your luck, you have nothing to lose.
Find the Freebies
Companies just seem to love giving things away. A new product, a new flavour, the latest design – all of these things get sent out in sample form as advertising, the key is knowing where to look. In this instance the internet is your trusted friend. Check around online and there are a number of sites that collate free sample offers and discounts for anything from shampoo to coffee to nappies. Imagine getting half your weekly shopping posted to you for free every week. It’s possible if you put the time in.
Competitions where you can win a holiday or a brand new car are all over the place, both online and in magazines and newspapers. People often dismiss these things but every day hundreds of people actually win the prizes, so a minute or two to enter a competition could change your life. You can’t win if you don’t try and unlike the lottery you don’t actually have to pay to play.
One Man’s Junk Is Another Man’s Treasure
There are loads of great websites that arrange for people to get rid of things they no longer need or have room for. Make use of these schemes as they really are good for everyone. Less waste and rubbish sent to the tip is great for the environment, while finding a great piece of furniture or a free mountain bike is great for your wallet. Second hand goods are available for free using sites like “freecycle” where people can advertise items they want to get rid of while putting a shout out for things they are after. It’s a great way to pick up perfectly good items while also doing someone else a favour. What could be better!
