In his first address to the press since becoming HP Thailand’s Managing Director and General Manager of Technology Solutions Group in November 2008, Alan Sedghi said, “Given the uncertain economic situation, we were able to achieve excellent business growth in 2008. The challenge for next year is to continue this level of growth. We are well-positioned to overcome this by using our strong product portfolio and operating framework. Our product portfolio provides end-to-end IT business solutions for our customers. Our operating framework applies a capital strategy that focuses on our people while increasing our business efficiency. It provides us with the tools we need to meet our goal of continued growth.”
As the General Manager of Technology Solutions Group (TSG), Sedghi explained TSG’s business direction, “In 2009, TSG continues to focus on the concept of Business Technology, or BT, as the key factor for business success. Based on our experience working closely with clients and helping them manage business risk, we understand that technology doesn’t just support business and lowers risk, but it helps power business and helps drive growth.”
“The focus on BT enables CIOs to weigh and measure their investments in terms of business outcomes – whether it’s managing risk, accelerating growth or lowering costs. HP also provides solutions and services under BT concept including Adaptive Infrastructure, Business Technology Optimisation and Business Information Optimisation, all aimed at helping customers manage business risk, lower cost and deliver best business outcomes,” said Sedghi.
HP is recognized for its broad portfolio of products and services. In the coming year, HP will continue to expand this portfolio, highlighting important future technologies.
Enterprise Server & Storage: HP continues to accelerate the growth of storage and take server share from competitors.
Software: HP wants to build HP’s position in CME solutions, business information optimization, and IT management and automation.
Technology Services: HP wants to continue to improve our attach rates and capitalize on our expanded portfolio and solution sales.
ProCurve: HP wants to expand sales coverage and leverage the TS networking services and server & storage bundles.
“We expect that we will hold or gain share in each of our product categories, while continuing to show discipline in our pricing and promotions. Meanwhile, we are seeing rapid advancement in areas such as blade technology, virtualization, data center transformation, scalable and cloud computing and an emphasis on green technology.” said Sedghi. “All of these will improve companies’ efficiencies while saving energy and reducing costs in an environmentally friendly manner.”
“It is time for us to get even closer to our strategic partners,” said Sedghi. “We have seen the importance of strong relationships with all levels of partners such as Alliance partners including SAP, Oracle, BEA. Technology partners including Intel, AMD, Microsoft. Corporate Resellers as well as SIs/VARs, all in order to maintain our leadership position. Working with our partners, we are able to create enormous synergies that provide significant value to our customers.”
HP will deploy its sales resources on the most attractive opportunities in the enterprise, small and medium business and public sectors. This year HP has tremendous opportunities to improve its market share through higher margin portfolios such as software, storage and TS offerings.
“Sustained revenue growth goes hand in hand with increased customer satisfaction.” Sedghi pointed out. “HP is a leader not only in technology but in technology services as well.” In the coming year, HP will institute new initiatives to measure customer satisfaction and loyalty and to continually increase them. This includes making it even easier to do business with HP through a variety of means, including being the industry leader in services delivery automation.
HP will also continue to give back to the communities in which it does business as the priority to be the good citizenship. “At HP Thailand, we are literally part of our communities. We live in, work in, and give back to those communities,” said Sedghi. “After the successful pilot program building a computer learning center with the IT Project Under the Initiative of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Mae Hong Song province last year, we continue to build more computer learning centers and other creativity programs to invest our company’s technology and expertise in Thai communities.”
“Undoubtedly the economic climate presents us with some challenges moving forward, but I am confident that the quality of our people, the breadth of our product portfolio and world class solutions, the strong collaboration with strategic partners and our effectiveness and efficiency direction provide a strong foundation from which to meet those challenges and maintain our leadership position.” concluded Sedghi.
