Ibiza – a Popular Holiday Spot For Families

With nineties documentaries like Ibiza Uncovered focusing on the late-night foam party antics on the island, and infamously hedonistic resorts such as Playa d’en Bossa, it is easy to see why Ibiza has built up a reputation as being a tad unsuitable for families. However, the nightlife here is just one small side to an island that has otherwise plenty to offer for everyone, kids included! With so much to see and do on a family holiday to Ibiza, holidaymakers are starting to realize that it is a haven for families as much as it is a clubber’s paradise.

One thing to note before getting your tickets is that the high season in Ibiza is between August 1st and September 15th, so it is during this time that clubbers descend onto the island. If you’re setting out on your family holiday to Ibiza during these dates, it is advisable to book  boutique hotel in ibiza outside of San Antonio and Ibiza Town, unless you fancy going to bed with earplugs. The perfect location of Hotel Sespitreras in Ibiza for example makes it a desired spot for families. Some of the more family-orientated resorts include Santa Eulalia, Es Cana, Cala Vadella and Figueretas. They are a bit quieter, but there’s still plenty to entertain the kids, with many having trampolines, playgrounds and bouncy castles. However, if you’re stuck for ideas, here’s a list of activities and attractions that can make your holiday to Ibiza extra special, and fun for the whole family!

Beaches that the little ones can enjoy

Every family holiday to Ibiza is incomplete without a day at the beach, spade and bucket in hand. The beaches at S’Argamassa, Mariner’s Beach and Cala Conta are perfect in this respect, as the waters are shallow, calm and perfect for children and less confident swimmers. Stay till the evening and watch the sun take an overnight dip too!

    Splash around in Aguamar

A great alternative to another day at the beach is a visit to the largest waterpark on the island, Aguamar. With 7 different slides and rides cutting across and curving through the park, everyone will be entertained for hours. The park is open from 10:00AM and includes rides such as The Black Hole, the Kamikaze and the Spiral. Don’t forget to bring a towel!

    Explore the C’an Marça caves

Located in the cliffs above Puerto de San Miguel, these caves will keep any budding palaeontologists in your family amused. They are over 100,000 years old and are home to breath-taking stalactites, fossils and history. If the kids are not interested in rocks and caves, you can tell them about the spooky origins of the C’an Marça caves, which were used by smugglers to hide goods!

Visit the medieval castle of Dalt Vila

The Dalt Vila, or Old Town, is another great day out for families on an Ibiza holiday. Just walking around the intertwining streets, being squeezed in by the stone walls and looking up at the towering fortifications is an experience in itself. As little feet might get tired, it’s best to explore this site with older children.

Hope for you to find really the best hotel in ibiza! Let us know your feedback once you come back from your vacation. Thumbs up!
