    Multi-Day Whitewater Rafting Trips

If you are looking to get out into the wilderness for a long-lasting getaway vacation, multi-day rafting trips are the best option. Varying in length, these trips provide a rewarding experience full of memories, good laughs, outdoor activity, and enjoying the great outdoors. Embarking on a multi-day rafting trip involves planning ahead of time and knowing what to expect during the duration of the trip.

Getting organized beforehand is going to make the trip a lot more fun and more successful. Get your group together plenty of times before the trip to discuss all of the arrangements such as meals, transportation, costs, equipment, and many other things. If there are kids involved, get them prepared before the trip by having a properly fitting lifejacket, plan on bringing simple activities to keep them entertained and proper clothing for them. If you have everyone prepared well before the vacation it will be an easy and rewarding trip.

Gather everything that you need before the day of the trip. Bad weather happens when you least expect it, so pack for weather of all situations. Bring a hat, long sleeves, extra pants, and some good waterproof shoes. Layers are important in rafting because you will spend a whole day rafting, in which the weather can change drastically throughout the day. Having a dry pack to keep all of your clothes dry will help you stay warm and comfortable. Steady rain without proper gear can make for a miserable day, and vice versa if it is a hot day and all you have are long sleeves and pants.

You will also want to bring any necessary medications, bug repellent and sunscreen, a camera, a book for downtime, and any camping gear you feel is needed. Most multi-day rafting trips will have tents for everyone, as well as basic needs like a lifejacket, oar, helmet, and most food. By knowing what the rafting company you chose is providing you, you will be able to pack appropriately. You won’t want to be carrying any unnecessary items with you, making your pack heavier and more of a hassle for you.

What is it like once you are finally on your multi-day rafting trip? When you’re on this excursion, you will spend the morning and afternoon rafting down the river, covering miles of the river. Stopping for bathroom breaks and food will lead to relaxation and exploration. This is when you can embark on a short hike, fish in the water, or swim in the water if it’s a lower level of rapids. Your guide will be able to tell you about the area you are in, sharing past experiences that they have witnessed and cooking meals for everybody in the group. Rafting guides are not only experienced in rafting but they are excellent cooks, creating meals that everyone will like.

Once you have stopped rafting for the day you will set up camp. This is when you can start a bonfire and share campfire stories, with the guide cooking up another delicious meal for everyone. Your guide can share more stories, perhaps ghost stories, and everyone can sit back and relax, enjoying the fresh air and the sounds of nature around them.

After you’ve spent multiple days on the river and camping, you will be done with your trip and head home. You will have plenty of memories to share with others and to remember for the years ahead. It is a trip that could become a yearly summer vacation as everyone has fun and enjoys spending time without a roof over their head for a few days, getting out and enjoying the freedom of no technology or any other of life’s busy hassles.
