Over the years, Nassau and the Bahamas has consistently been one of the hottest vacation destinations in the world. This tropical island not only provides tourists, guests and vacationers the freedom to do whatever they want, it also offers a distinct blend of international glamour and laid back charm.
Why do so many tourists keep going back there? There are three simple reasons. First, for most people, it is the perfect holiday destination. Its shimmering aquamarine waters and alluring white beaches have been kept in pristine condition and continue to leave an excellent impression among visitors. Secondly, it is easily accessible. The islands of the Bahamas are only 180 miles from the coast of Southern Florida. New York is only a three-hour plane ride away. It is also a quick plane ride away from major cities like Canada, the Caribbean, the United Kingdom and the United States. Thirdly, it remains an international destination due to its world-class resorts, duty-free shopping, gourmet dining and Vegas-style casinos. All these factors combine with its ex-colonial charm to make Nassau and the Bahamas your perfect vacation.
So where do you find all the action once you’re there? There are two popular places in Nassau – Cable Beach and Nassau Downtown. There is also the Over-the-Hill Community which has Grantís Town and Bain Town, but Cable Beach and Nassau downtown are still more favored by tourists and visitors. If you are seeking world-class accommodation and the finest dining venues, Cable Beach is probably your ideal destination. It is recognized as Nassau’s main hotel district and there are five enormous hotels here. If you prefer to go all-inclusive, two of them offer this kind of service.
Other highlights of Cable Beach include the golden sands of the beach itself, the Crystal Palace Casino and a large selection of fine dining restaurants. Great dining options can be found in any of the hotels. The three dining venues that are considered to be the finest are Androsia, BBQ Beach and Capriccio. These three restaurants are known for their serene atmosphere, unique decor and distinctive cuisine. On the other hand, if you’re on the look out for thrilling nightlife then you might need to move elsewhere; there is little to no nightlife in Cable Beach. However, you can do a bit of shopping or gaming in Wyndham and Sheraton hotels.
For those of you seeking world-class shopping and dining, Nassau Downtown is the best choice. Tourists flock here to shop, dine, do some sightseeing and to just enjoy its tropical climate. There are also a few hotels as well as restaurants in the downtown area (mostly along West Bay). Some of the finest hotels to consider are: Holiday Inn, Compass Point, Chez Willie, his Travelodge and the Quality Inn. However it is worth noting that it is usually very busy throughout Bay Street and Woodes Rogers Walk. Other highlights of Nassau Downtown include Pirates of Nassau Museum, British Colonial Hilton, Christ Church Catherdal and the Vendue House amongst others.
