The Florida sunshine called and here you are in Orlando ready for fun. Orlando/Kissimmee/St. Cloud are sprawling areas full of fun things to do. Where to start? What will the kids enjoy? Here are some ideas for a fun kid friendly visit to the Sunshine State.
The Obvious- Theme Parks
The Orlando area is theme park central but some theme parks are typically more kid-friendly than others. Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom is one of our favorites. Fun for kids of all ages, the Magic Kingdom won’t disappoint. For an adventurous experience combined with learning about oceans and its inhabitants, Seaworld tops the list. Who doesn’t love whales, dolphins, seals and sea lions combined with roller coasters? For Harry Potter fans (and there are many) Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the thrill you’re seeking.
 Legoland
Located just south of Orlando in Winter Haven, Legoland is a 150 acre park designed specifically for kids ages 2-12. With shows, hands on attractions, rides and amazing Lego displays, the kids will love it here. But it’s not just about the kids; grown-ups will enjoy the shopping, restaurants and botanical gardens they have to offer there.
 Wonder works
Known as the upside down buildings, these incredibly fun places have popped up in a few locations. If your town isn’t one of them, take the opportunity to visit the one in Orlando. The kids will love going into the wonky upside down building; and that is just the beginning of the wild, wacky, energy using experiences awaiting at this extraordinary science museum. Plus for the adults: you’re indoors and cool as a cucumber while the fun happens.
 Water parks
Orlando is the home of several water parks, each with its own unique twist. One is Blizzard Beach; with the fun ‘snowy’ theme, you can ride a ski lift sans skis, or try the daunting Summit Plummet. Kids love walking on the ‘ice’ and then zip-lining into the water. The other water favorite is Discovery Cove which is part of the Seaworld family of theme parks, Discovery Cove offers cool water rides combined with conservation and animal care. You can see dolphins up close as well as swim with them or be a trainer for a day. *special reservations required for dolphin swims and trainer days.
Gatorland
A throwback to simpler times yet fun, (also cheaper) Gatorland might be a stop to make.  No 3 or 4D animation here and to be honest, it’s a bit old school. But for a completely different, less crowded, way to spend a few hours, it’s pleasant and there are certainly gators a-plenty. Friendly staff guffaws predictable and corny jokes while performing and gator wrestling is always a crowd pleaser.
Your Own Hotel
Chances are your own hotel in Orlando has perks and kid friendly things to do. Take a day off sight-seeing and park tours to check it out. Many offer special activities poolside or boast game rooms and arcades. Some have bedtime story time in the lobby or offer a s’more night by a fire pit. A simple day enjoying the pool and room service for dinner is a pleasant thing to do and certainly relaxing for both kids and parents after all the running around.
Great ideas! Thanks
