The benefits of becoming a frugal traveler in this trouble Economy

Have you ever tried anything crazy when you are travelling abroad like requesting the owner of a house to let you and your friend share a single bed? Or have you ever walked for miles to reach your destination just to save your hard earned money? Or did you ever tried to stick to your guns not to enter any restaurant for a week just to save a few hundred bucks? Ok let us accept the fact that all of us have done weird things while traveling at certain point of our otherwise listless and tranquil life style. And as the economy is still reeling and bleeding. There is nothing wrong in resorting to these types of funny activities to save a few hundred bucks and if you are a budget traveler, I hope you know better what I am driving at. However, I am not saying that budget travel does necessarily mean that travelers need to be on the breadline all the day or spend their nights in some bus station. Nope, the world has not come to this yet thankfully. All I want to say is that you need to watch your spending so that you feel great even when the vacation is drawing near its end.

Here I am going to share some tips that can fit easily into your budget without making your vacation any less interesting:

Save the Water, Save the Planet: No, I am not telling you to save water or anything of that sort to contribute to the sustainability of the planet Earth. All I ask you to put a cap on the habit of buying water unless it is not necessary. However, it all depends on how good is your stomach is. If you stomach is too sensitive, you should forget about giving this idea a try. If the water is potable, there is no point in splurging money on buying bottled water.

Think About the Lunch and Not Dinner: If you are travelling in some foodie destinations and are not that much interested in becoming a part of that place’s culinary culture, the purpose of visiting that glorious place is lost. You will be missing out on a defining part of the entire vacation if you do not eat some local meals. So, my humble advice for you is to have your lunch outside. Try some roadside food joints or try some street foods and believe me you are going to love this more than anything else does in the world. However, you need to make it clear to your hotel owner that you are not going to pay anything for the lunch since you are most likely to stay outside during the day. It will help you save some

Do not Book in Advance: When you are booking something local, you are going to save a considerable amount because there will always be enough room for bargaining compared to booking a sightseeing or transport from the comfort of your home. It is about meeting real people, building up real relationship and all that.

Stay on the fringes of the city: To feel the charm and romantic association of the city or place, you need to spend one or two days in its center. Once you have the experience, you can easily stay on the fringe of the city. By making a retreat to such bucolic setting, you can easily save a few hundred bucks. However, you need to calculate the transportation cost and need to figure it whether or not staying outside cost you more than staying right at the heart of the city.

Make it a Lovey-Dovey Affair: It is always great [or may not that great] to have your better half accompanying you when you are travelling aboard. Apart from sharing meal, you will find that double rooms are available almost at the same price to that of a single room.

Small tricks but believe me these can go a long way to help you save a few hundred bucks easily and hopefully, you can beat the blues of recession hands down.
