The best places to eat and drink in Cape Town are around Camps Bay, where you’ll find just about anything your appetite desires. This trendy suburb has bars, cafes, and restaurants galore, from fine dining, to meat and seafood, as well as pasta, tapas, and more.
For a taste of the Mediterranean, stop in at swanky Blues, where you’ll find cocktails, ambience, surf and turf, and spectacular ocean views. Starters here include Crayfish Bisque, Carpaccio of Ostrich, Scallops and Battered Prawns, all of which are prepared with the freshest African ingredients. Main dishes include Seared Tuna, Risotto de Mare, and Peppered Sirloin Steak, with prices that average about 200 Rand, or $30 USD.
If you’re in the mood for Italian, make your way to Col’Cacchio Pizzeria, which sits below the mountains on a beautiful palm-treed beach. Their thin crust pizzas are some of the best you’ll find in all of Cape Town, which include combos for meat lovers, vegetarians, and those who can’t eat wheat. One creative recommendation is the Pizza Rustica, with roasted butternut, gorgonzola, and delicious pumpkin seeds. A favourite pasta dish is the vegetarian Fresca, with its roasted vegetables, rocket, ricotta, pine nuts and sun-dried tomato.
Two good places for drinks in Camps Bay are Sapphire and St. Yves. Both are located on the promenade along Victoria Road, and both are popular with the young and trendy Cape Town crowd. While Sapphire serves up high-class cocktails, and plays great funky beats, St. Yves is the place to party well into the early morning. However, if you do plan to dance at St. Yves, make sure you dress to impress, as you’ll be mingling with jetsetters, VIP’s, and international guests. If you don’t look the part you may not even make it through the door.
