When booking your trip keep in mind that waste water treatment is still one of the biggest struggles in Nigeria. The area lacks prevention techniques for their constant oil spillages. Therefore there must be something else you would like to see when visiting Nigeria apart from its coastline.
If environmental factor puts you off the travelling to Nigeria then check Iceland out. Forbes has currently scored Iceland’s air pollution 97 out of 100. Enough fresh air to even take some home as a souvenir.
Not interested in the sterile city? Occasional oil spillages in Nigeria are nothing in comparison with garbage and sewage flow in New Delhi, India. If you are worried about safety of your holiday, New Delhi is probably one of those places where the growth of water borne diseases might affect your final decision on visiting the country. India is a lifetime travelling destination indeed.
Switzerland’s air is as polluted as most industrialised cities in the world. However this snowy destination has perfect conditions for everyone concerned with water quality and overall habitat conditions. In fact, Switzerland’s score is solid hundred.
As beautiful as Indian Ocean is, it hosts some dirty countries. Mozambique lacks basic sanitary processes especially in its capital Maputo. Pile of garbage and sewage’s rivers put anyone in deep depression.
Interestingly, Costa Rica which is not as rich and developed as Iceland or Switzerland has a very clean reputation, literally. The density of its forests and flourishing wildlife makes Costa Rica one of the most visited countries on Earth.
When travelling through the Atlantic Ocean to its west you reach Angola where you need a good provision of fresh water with you. Angola’s citizens are probably more adaptive to the poor quality water they consume but as a traveller you do not want to risk. Fresh water in Angola is in fact a worth celebration event: it arrives in large tanks and contains high levels of chlorine in it. Are you still thirsty?
Interestingly, Sweden and Norway with their outstanding wealth have not been rated as perfectly clean countries. However do not underestimate the environmental perfection of those countries. Together with Scandinavia, they enjoy vast forests which clean their air, soil, nourishing plentiful wildlife.
Russia is another worrying travel destination when it comes to a fresh water demand. Many citizens of this vast country also suffer from poor lungs health. Moscow, the capital produces 22 million tons of waste per year however the waste treatment facilities are filled almost to its capacity making it difficult to keep the city clean.
If your Russian is not as good yet maybe isolated heaven Mauritius is your option. This tiny island in Indian Ocean in fact is one of the cleanest nations of Sub-Sahara Africa.
If you suffer from Claustrophobia and stay away from small islands, Mexico would be your place to be. However its air pollution makes many to worry. Mexico is in the centre of volcanic crater, surrounded by mountains which are a perfect condition for pollution to rest.
Our planet Earth hosts some extremely dirty and unsafe places as well as absolute paradises even for germs freaks. Either dirty or clean any destination is an adventure so embrace it with all its perks and bugs.
