    Tips for the Business Traveler

Road warriors are a rare bread. While some professionals let 15 minutes of traffic ruin their days, the traveling team-player dutifully hops on a cross-country red-eye, preparing for that 9 a.m. meeting along the way. Without these adventurous associates, co-workers wouldn’t be able to enjoy their cushy routines and comfortable desks.

If you’re one of these fearless flyers, you’ve probably been overlooked a time or two at company parties or corporate events. Not today. Life on the road is about to get easier. From rewards-racking credits cards to the best overhead compartment suitcases, these tips will improve your experience and give your more time to enjoy that window view.

    The Card

If you’re a self-employed business traveler, airline fees probably sit near the top of your expense report. Luckily, the credit card industry has a soft spot for fliers almost every provider offers and miles rewards credit card program. We like the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Business card for its 30,000 bonus miles after spending $500 in the first three months, along with a free checked bag for each Delta flight. According to American Express, businesses with $30,000 monthly payments will rack up 5,544 miles over the course of the year.

For frequent fliers, an air-mile-rewards credit card is a no-brainer.

    The Preventative Drink

Sky kings and queens depend on good health withstand the rigors of meetings, hotel rooms and fluctuating schedules but it just so happens they frequent one of the most likely places to get sick. A study by the Journal of Environmental Health Researcher revealed that the cold transmission on flights could be 23 times higher than normal ground-level conditions.

Travel and Leisure magazine recommends that frequent travelers pump vitamins before flights, but studies show that timing is everything for users that want to see benefits. According to a BBC.co.uk report, taking vitamin C every day does little stop colds for the average person. Vitamin C is more beneficial for those exposed to physical stress (like flying) or severe cold, however. Researchers also found evidence that a large dose of vitamin C at the beginning of a cold might be useful.

If you buy the vitamin-c hype, stir up a packet of Emergen-C before your flight. Available in multiple flavors, this drink mix contains 1000 mg of the big C, more than ten times the recommended daily intake, according to NIH.gov. Other ingredients include various B Vitamins, antioxidants and electrolytes.

    The Suitcase

Frequent travelers sacrifice many of the comforts of home: a familiar bed, local news and a fully stocked kitchen for home cooking. Road warriors have to make the most of what constants they have, therefore, and a quality suitcase is a good start. Realsimple.com declared the Hovercraft 20-inch Wide Body suitcase the best rolling carry-on. Its unique wide shape affords more room for travelers while still fitting in carry-on compartments. If you’re going to be on the road often, splurge for reliable travel accessories. You’ll take a little piece of home with you every time you leave the ground.
