My trip at Disneyland theme park still conjures up the excitement, the pure exhilaration that my family and I felt when we spent a weekend there. It’s a tale full of surprises, laughs and thrills, a tale full of everlasting memories.
Disneyland Paris is the most visited theme park in Europe. A trip to Paris may well be termed incomplete without a visit to Disneyland. Although it is smaller in size and features fewer attractions than the original Disneyland in California, it boasts the most amazing Disney Castle—the Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, or Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant in French.
We got there by Eurostar from London, which has a direct stop inside Disneyland. The park is otherwise connected to the Paris city and airport by road and TGV. We had a room booked at the Disney’s Hotel at Marne-la-Vallee. The bus was there at the station to pick us up. We were at the hotel after a short drive. The room was superb. We ordered room service and attacked the hamburgers, which were as delicious as they were mouth watering. After lunch, we headed for the nearest park amidst the beautiful French weather.
There’s so much to see at the park that a weekend can hardly be enough. Among the most amazing attractions is the special effects show that they have at the Castle. Although the Castle looks surreal on its own, lights and smoke transform it into different Disney characters and themes. It is so amazing that we couldn’t believe our own eyes.
Among the rides, the roller coaster in the Studio Park was the most thrilling. Just make sure you don’t ride it just after you’ve had your meals. The food at Disneyland is expensive, but splendid. And, you have to walk and wait in the queues so long that you feel perpetually hungry. This reminds me of the dinner at Café Mickey, which is a must-have, although you need to book tables to avoid returning hungry and frustrated.
The kids kept screaming throughout the simulated Star Wars ride. Buzz Lightyear’s Laser Blast was my husband’s favorite, and he wasted a lot of money on that before he realized he wasn’t such a good shot. The kids also loved the Space Mountain Mission 2. On Sunday, we visited the Big Thunder Mountain and Indiana Jones and le temple du peril.
There are really many other things to talk about, for instance the fun-filled Disney Showtime Spectacular, and the New Generation Dedication Show, featuring jaw-dropping performances by Disney characters. The rides and the strolls in the parks can be too hectic, and we used to be really tired by the time we got back to the hotel, which always embraced us with its Jacuzzis and excellent services.
Just make sure you get your Freepasses in advance, otherwise the long waits in the queues can take the fun out of the experience. I saw some people smoking, although it’s officially banned there. Other than this couple of down sides, a weekend in Disneyland Paris is truly a dream weekend.
