    3 Unusual Winter Holiday Destinations

Why not take a break away from the norm this winter? Sure, the popular tourist destinations may offer some kind of a guarantee. But do you really want to spend your holiday surrounded by thousands of other holiday makers? Instead, why not think outside the box and try some of the following alternatives. You’ll thank yourself.

    Las Vegas, Nevada

The winter months are an ideal time to visit Las Vegas. In terms of tourism, it’s the low season, as most families won’t tend to think it’s a good idea to spend their holiday inside a casino (after all, someone could easily blow all the holiday money). But this is exactly why you should go. The cost of a hotel room is massively reduced during this time of the year, meaning that even a 5 star hotel might be within your price range. And unlike some areas in the country, Nevada won’t be freezing cold come winter.

    Anchorage, Alaska

This is the classic winter holiday climate, but without all the tourists. Located near both Canada and Russia, Anchorage is a real-life winter wonderland, an enchanting and pict mountain landscape that stretches for miles beneath a clear, sea-blue sky. Given that so few people visit Anchorage for their holidays, it feels untapped, untainted, unspoiled by man. It can also be unrelenting in its sub-zero climate, so be sure to pack some quality Outdoor Look winter wear to keep away the chills!

    Lima, Peru

Don’t fancy another cold winter, but can’t bear the thought of languishing beside a pool, surrounded by your neighbours when you’re supposed to be on vacation? Lima is a great answer to your problems. As with Vegas, wintertime is the off-season for Lima, making it another cheap place to spend your winter holidays. One of the best things about the place is its variety and scale: there are so many hidden parts to the city, trails and passages that can be explored for days if not weeks.

    Defy Convention this Winter

Of course, you could spend your winter holidays in Florida or Bali or any of the endless tourist traps this winter. But consider the alternative: By choosing one of the above destinations instead, you’ll not only be saving money, but you’ll be taking a welcome break from the norm.

    1. Great tip about Las Vegas and don’t forget seeing the Grand Canyon in the snow. One of the best sights in the world looks even better dusted with ice and snow, and most people never realise this happens. A great part of the world to visit in the Winter months.
