    Trekking The American Wilds

    SINGLES HOLIDAYS IN THE USA

Travelling abroad alone can initially seem like a daunting experience but can, in fact, be very rewarding. The USA is one of the best destinations for this, as it has a welcoming atmosphere and there are many different experiences to sample; trekking is just one of these, but also one of the best.

Choosing to travel abroad alone can be a brave decision to make, but the rewards that you reap are often vast. City breaks or beach holidays are nice, but can feel a little lonesome on your own, whereas engaging on a great adventure is the perfect way to meet lots of new people as well as truly indulge all your travel fantasies. There are numerous companies that organise big adventure trips where you’ll be grouped together with many other single travellers, all of whom have the same excitement about the trip and all of whom are keen to socialise and make new friendships, many of which will last a lifetime.

    THE AMERICAN WILDERNESS

Adventure holidays exist across the globe, from the jungles of India to the savannahs of Africa and from the islands of Thailand to the outback of Australia, but nowhere offers quite so much variety and so much exhilarating pioneering spirit as the USA. Although it is one of the most developed nations on Earth, much of the United States is still a vast wilderness, ideally suited to those with a yearning for adventure. Whether it’s the rich forests of Montana, the sweeping vistas of Nevada or the tropical wonderland of Hawaii that appeals, there’s certainly something for everyone in America. For single holidays abroad, it can also be one of the less daunting destinations as it has a good infrastructure, a welcoming character and tourism is a well-established industry there.

    WARMER CLIMES

If sunshine and heat are requisite elements of any holiday for you, then America is unlikely to disappoint. Many of the southern states are rich with great landscapes to explore and you’re unlikely to feel a drop of rain for the duration of your trip, if you travel at the right time of year. Texas is a vast state and much of it is still truly wild, so adventurous explorers can immerse themselves in a world of exotic rock formations and powerful rivers. California’s Death Valley has some incredibly high temperatures and is favoured by those in search of extremes, but for single holidays abroad, a good organised group excursion is essential, as safety has to come first.

    COLDER CLIMES

The powerful heat and long hours of blazing sun aren’t for everyone and some may prefer to go where it’s a little chillier. The pine forests that fill the states lining the border with Canada are often uninhabited for miles and miles on end and are therefore perfect for trekking expeditions. The wildlife here is also truly remarkable and sure to be enough to keep even the keenest naturalist happy. If that’s not quite cold enough, heading into the Arctic circle to Alaska allows you to witness colossal glaciers, immense mountains and some of the continent’s rarest wildlife, including the elusive and spectacular polar bear.

Overall, travelling alone to America can be a fantastic experience and there is no better way to ensure it than to embark on an organised adventure holiday, which will allow you to see the United States’ greatest wildernesses as well as sharing experiences and creating memories that you will never forget. These trips are as much about the people as they are about the destination and nothing bonds new friends together like unforgettable experiences and adventures.

    1. I think one of my best vacations was in wild America. A group of us from all over the country went white-water rafting on the Snake River in Hell’s Canyon. The experience has been unmatched.

    2. I would say it probably takes a few trekking adventures to really say it is enjoyable to do it alone. The first time around it will probably be hell, second time around more improved and by the third time the trekker is more experienced and knows what to expect.

    3. Traveling alone is something that many people avoid because they think that it is something that is going to make them feel awkward. However, traveling alone can be fun, as you mentioned, if you do something that is done in groups such as hiking or river rafting.

    4. Sometimes we forget that to visit beautiful places we need to travel in our own country. People dream of visiting Europe but they forget here in the USA we have majestic places also and our country is one of the most diverse when it comes to places to visit. Hiking is a great way to not only do exercise but to actually relax and become part of a great landscape.
