The Copenhagen Chocolate Festival is held in the old Carlsberg Brewery in Vesterbro and takes place over a weekend. The Chocolate Festival is the brain child of an association of Danish chocolate makers and first took place back in1996. Visitors will be able to experience the creations and showcases of over 30 different chocolate manufacturers that hail from both Denmark and Sweden, so they can be assured of a great choice of chocolates to see and try.

The first thing that really hits you when you enter the Copenhagen Chocolate Festival is the smell. It starts your mouth watering and your taste buds tingling and the good news is that you will soon be able to satisfy both.

Because there are so many different chocolate manufacturers taking part in the Copenhagen Chocolate Festival you will find that you are regularly asked if you would like to sample any of the wonderful chocolates that they have on display. You will be able to try chocolate that has been infused with different flavors, some sweet, some savory. You will get to munch on different centres and textures and so much more. In fact this is probably a good point to say that if you are on a diet then this is definitely not the place for you as you will find it almost impossible to resist temptation.

There are also several workshops that take place throughout the festival, each having a different theme. For example one workshop deals with the history of chocolate and how it has been made throughout the ages. They show different machinery and allow spectators to get involved should they wish to.

Another workshop shows how chocolate is used to craft works of art such as eggs and bunnies for Easter celebrations. Again visitors are encouraged to take part and for a small fee they are able to create their own chocolate sculpture that they can then take away with them.

There really is so much to see and do at the Copenhagen Chocolate Festival that even those who do not like chocolate very much (yes, apparently they do exist) will find that they have a very enjoyable day out. You will also find that you are able to pick up some world famous luxury chocolate for a fraction of the price that you would pay in stores so the Copenhagen Chocolate Festival is also a great place to buy gifts for friends and family.
