Whilst looking at those cheap flights to London, don’t despair there are plenty of free attractions to see once you reach.
London the capital of England, once the capital to the British Empire, has been home to the Kings and Queens of England for over 1,000 years, and now one of the most famous cities in the world.
With all these claims, it is no wonder that London has so much to offer the visitor, like the London Eye, the Tower of London and Madame Tussauds.
Although it may be one of the financial capitals of the world, does not mean to say that everything costs money in London. Many of London’s top attractions are free.

1. Changing of the Guard – Many of the visitors to London don’t want to go home until they have seen where the Queen lives. That is Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the Queen in London. The Palace is guarded by members of “Guardsmen” and there is a changing of the guard that takes place publicly, daily in the summer and every other day during the winter months. If you are going to visit the Palace, what better time to go than when the guard is changing. At 11:15 the Guards accompanied by the Bandsmen arrive. At 11:30 the Guard change begins. At 12:00 the ceremony ends. Get there early to ensure a good view through the railings of the Palace.
2. The Natural History Museum – This is one of the best museums in the world. In here you can learn about climate change, dinosaurs or meteorites. In the exhibits over 61 million species of animal are represented along with 500,000 meteorites, not to mention the 9 million fossils, the rocks or the plants. As well as learning about our planet yourself, it is a great opportunity for the kids to learn whilst interacting with a robotic dinosaur or building a volcano.
3. Princess Diana Memorial Playground – Opened in 2000 in memory of the late Princess 750,000 children visit this playground annually. Situated in Kensington Gardens, it has a Pirate Ship at its center. Built around the theme of Peter Pan, there is plenty to keep the kids occupied. A beach surrounds the ship and there are plenty of other swings, slides and playthings among the trees and bushes, including teepees and a climbing frame. There is plenty of seats for the adults to sit in to watch and when the kids work up a hunger, pizza or sandwiches are available at the café.
4. Museum of London – The nine separate galleries at this museum will take you through the complete history of London, from 450,000 BC, before London became London, through the times of the Romans, the Plague, the fire, the blitz and right up to today. Throughout the galleries there are interactive exhibits to help you feel London’s history.
5. Trafalgar Square – Always busy and often hosting events, Trafalgar Square is the largest square in London and apart from Nelson’s column, it also has the giant statues of the lions. Superb architecture are on all four sides, The National Gallery, Canada House, South Africa House and at the North East corner is St. Martin in the Field parish church. This Church with its large white steeple was used as the model for many churches especially in the United States.
