Brazilian culture is more than play football on the beach. True it is, a country famous for dancing and a joyous celebration of life. However, there are other aspects to the country that you may not be aware.

One of the reasons for the heritage of the country is the mix of influences that have altered the country over its history. Besides the local population, there was also the arrival of Portuguese settlers. Over time, they brought slaves from Africa, which also contributed the musical heritage of the country.

One of the lasting legacies of this era is the Portuguese language, spoken by the vast majority of the population. Percentages as close to 100 percent of Brazil’s population speak the local language. Therefore want, when you advertise in Brazil or give you business cards, you should include a Portuguese translation.

Another important part of culture is the role of the family. In Brazil, the family acts as a kind of social network to play with everyone in the immediate and extended family that plays a role. It is something that affects people of a number of levels, including in the business world.

It is not uncommon to have a prominent role in the Brazilian companies to family members. In this regard, nepotism is not bad as a cause. The idea is that if you know someone that you trust it. This also extends to deal with other companies. They want to know who they are talking about and want as much information about a company and people know it is running. They are also more likely to agree to meet you face rather than face transactions over the phone or e-mail, as they consider them more personal.

There is also a clear etiquette when visiting someone here in Brazil. If you are invited at home, you should bring with you a gift, greeting men with a handshake and eye contact, and women with a kiss on the cheek. Do not bring anything black or purple, because these colors are associated with death. You should also avoid handkerchiefs for the same reason. If you want to give flowers orchids are the traditional choices.

If you are invited to a dinner party, you should arrive half an hour late. For a larger gathering people are not normally expected at least an hour late. Formal dressing is usually preferable to sporty, and if you have any doubts, you should want to have something down rather than flashy and impressive dress.

Like any nation, there are different regions with different cultures. Brazilian culture may differ in many ways. For example, the city of Sao Paulo is known for its theater and opera as well as the more traditional forms of music and culture known. Look online for more information about events in the country as well as packages for events like the carnival in Rio.
