    Easter in the French Alps

Whether you’re a virgin on the slopes or the UK’s answer to Alberto Tomba, there are a number of different ski resorts to get your pulse racing this Easter. In fact you would be hopping mad not to book some time off! From the picturesque surroundings of Courcheval to the playboy inclines of Aspen, everyone has their favourite resort. So grab a cheesy fondue skewer and grab yourself a slice of the skiing action. There are several winter sports resorts across this region that will soon warm you up.

This includes the likes of Mayrhofen nestled close to the Austrian border. If you are in search of some space not to mention the chance to enjoy a respite from busy crowds then take yourself off here for a long weekend. Located in the heart of the beautiful Ziller Valley, this is a real treat for beginners. You can take advantage of a wide variety of routes that are dedicated to the early ski novice.

In addition, this particular destination provides all year round snowfall for the perfect wintry conditions. This is largely down to its high elevation which will soon make you feel like yodelling to the skies! Meanwhile, it is also considered to be an ideal mountain escape among ski enthusiasts while being in close proximity to a few airports, including Innsbruck.

Another strong contender is Chamonix Mont-Blanc situated in France. This is a popular resort for those who are more experienced skiers. Once you are on location, you can have the chance to enjoy a host of incredible views. When it comes to the ideal skiing conditions this resort also boasts the perfect white layer of fun. So what awaits you? Bask in the glorious near eight hundred metres piste runs while there are three principal settings where you can mix things up a little.

This features the Argentiere Glacier as well as Pendant and Lognan. But if you are more of a thrill seeker and desire a much more rigorous test, then check out the special glaciers of Grands Montets and Vallèe Blanche! These are considered to be some of the toughest conditions across the whole of Europe. Laax in Switzerland is another contender to the best winter resort crown.

It is also popular among snowboarders who are in pursuit of tearing up the white powder which lies beneath their feet. This is certainly for those adrenaline junkies out there who demand the best snow to perform numerous tricks. Situated close to Zurich this regularly pulls in the snowboard addicts. The terrain park is supposedly a lively and vibrant area that’s jam packed full of free riders and freestylers.

But wait, there’s more. Don’t put down your ski mask just yet as we haven’t even discussed Tignes. Another French contender, this destination is based near the iconic resort of Val d’Isere. Not only does it offer excellent areas for snowboarding but did you know it was home to the official European Winter X-Games?

You can indulge in the free ride terrain, whilst there are even several snowboard ski schools if you are in need of extra tuition. One of the main benefits to this village is the fact that it is free of cars. It has a certain charm that’s seen in the cute chalets dotting the skyline. All of this is surrounded by a circle of incredibly high peaks which measure a whopping four thousands metres at its highest level.

While it will tempt you by its certain je ne sais quoi and potent looks, it has a lot more for skiers. This includes being extremely dependant as far as snow in the late season is concerned. The majority of the ski runs are more than two and a half thousand metres which also features a striking glacier that is available practically the entire year round.

Obergurgl in Austria should be another one on your hit list. Another late season snow favourite, this is deemed to be one of the country’s most elevated destinations. In fact slopes can climb up to more than three thousand metres and it is a popular haunt for those who want to enjoy the idyllic surroundings of the Ötz valley.

Whether you are a fan of Meribel or Mont Blanc, there is a wealth of skiing opportunities based in and around the Alps. Gorge on the piping hot gourmet cuisine that can be enjoyed in resorts such as the Three Valleys or take up a lesson with instructors at Megeve.

Whatever your interest may be, skiing is becoming more and more popular with those individuals who not only want a thrill but who are keen to practice a new sport. You can find luxury ski holiday deals with Supertravel.co.uk. Don’t forget the après ski venues either, where you will be able to sink your teeth into some meaty fare and wash it all down with some mulled wine or a serious cocktail!
