The Canadian Rockies is famed for its soothing, rejuvenating hot springs, so much so that thousands of tourists flock here each year in search of a much needed soak in the mineral waters. Here, we take a look at five of the most popular hot spring areas which can be visited.

You can relax in the soothing comfort of the natural hot springs here, where travellers have been coming to rest their aching limbs for over one hundred years. The Hot Springs in Banff are one of its most popular attractions. Discovered in the late 19th century, they have remained a favourite with locals and tourists alike ever since.

    Radium Hot Springs

The Radium Hot Springs can be found in the British Columbian Kootenay National Park. This is one of the country’s largest hot spring pools and provides the perfect atmosphere for family fun. Whether you just happen to be passing through the National Park, are snowboarding or skiing at Panorama Ski Resort, or are visiting the local golf courses in Radium, the Hot Springs here are a must-visit. The mineral waters here are clear and odourless, making them perfect for those who want to kick back and enjoy a truly relaxing soak.

    Miette Hot Springs

Miette Hot Springs are situated in yet another National Park, Alberta’s Jasper. The naturally occurring hot spring water here flows down from the mountain at a temperature of 544C, before it cools down to a more comfortable temperature of 400C as it flows into the Miette Hot Springs pool. The location is beautiful and the hot spring pools are one of the National Park’s best kept secrets. As such, it is perfect for those who want to experience the calming qualities of the mineral waters in the Canadian Rockies in a peaceful, quiet environment.

    Pleiades Banff

The Pleiades Banff Spa and Massage centre offers the ultimate relaxation experience, as spa treatments are combined with soaks in the hot springs. Nestled within the Canadian Rockies, Pleiades Spa and Massage will calm your senses and wash away any worries. In addition to enjoying the warmth and relaxation of the hot springs here, you can also treat yourself to treatments such as Reflexology, Shiatsu Massages, facials and Aromatherapy.

    Radium Wellness Spa

Amidst the grandeur and beauty of the Rocky Mountains you will find the Wellness Spa in Radium. Here you can take a retreat from the daily grind and immerse yourself in the shallow pools of hot springs found here. You can enjoy a massage, or their specialist treatment, the ‘All Natural Face Renewal’ as well if you wish. In addition to enjoying the clean waters of the hot springs, this spa resort also offers de-chlorinated ‘health water’ to drink and even shower in.
