    Must-See Destinations in South America

The continent of South America has an incredibly diverse range of top tourist destinations. It’s bustling cities, treacherous jungles, snow-capped mountains and almost mythical deserts are among the most sought-after locations in the world. Whether you’re planning a wild adventure through the untamed wilderness, or an exciting stay in one of the continent’s major cities, South America does not disappoint.

    Amazonia, Ecuador

One of the most untouched areas in all of Peru, the Amazon Rainforest is home to some of the greatest biodiversity on the planet; strange and exotic flora and fauna, multi-coloured parrots, leaping monkeys and snapping alligators all contribute towards making an Amazonian adventure one of the most exciting and unique holiday options available. The sad reality is that our generation may well be amongst the very last to enjoy such a privilege. Through the greed of big corporations and a whole host of diverse and often corrupt commercial interests, the Amazon Rainforest is quickly disappearing. Tourism though has been a fairly major asset for those seeking to battle the disintegration of these beautiful phenomenon. For with tourism comes money, and that may just play a small part in the battle to conserving this natural wonder.

    Rio de Janeiro

For something less adventurous but equally thrilling, you can’t look past Rio. Known as the ‘Cicade Maravilhosa’ (Marvellous City), this sparkling Brazilian metropolis certainly seems to have it all. With white sandy beaches and staggering green mountains, Rio de Janeiro seems to boast breath-taking vistas from just about every angle. What makes Rio so enticing though, is the exciting urban expanses that exist within these areas of natural beauty. High fashion, glamour and a laid back attitude are the cornerstones of this city’s character. Take a walk down Avenida Atlantica in Copa, and you’ll encounter a city overflowing with gorgeous, bikini-clad beach-goers. Visit during the carnival in February, and you’ll witness first hand why so many – including this reviewer on The Holiday Place – love Rio.

    South America Has It All

A holiday to South America is by no means for the faint-hearted. Whilst you’ll have every opportunity to simply bask in the warmth of the South American sun, the chances are you won’t want to. The opportunities here are endless and diverse; whether you’re seeking an adventure holiday in the Amazon or a taste of Brazilian party-culture in Rio, this continent truly has everything you could wish for.
