Las Vegas is the #1 gambling destination for just about anyone who likes to play casino games. The city is always changing and evolving, and once you think you have seen and done everything worth seeing in Vegas, something new pops up that everyone has to experience. Check out some of what’s new in Las Vegas.
Mob Museum
For those attracted to the history surround old Las Vegas, you should consider a trip to the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement in downtown Vegas. Slated to open mid-February, the museum will give patrons a taste of what the mob culture was really all about in Vegas. The museum will include gangster artifacts as well as various exhibits related to the mob culture. At the end of tours of the museum, patrons will be treated to a five-minute film in which the writer of “Wiseguy”, the book that was adapted into the movie “Goodfellas” will talk about the mob culture in depth. Note that some of these exhibits may be too graphic for young children.
Fremont Street Zip Line
For those of you out there that are more adventurous, you have to check out the zip line that runs the length of “Glitter Gulch.” You zip down an 800 foot controlled descent at speeds up to 30 miles an hour in a ride that is described as simply awesome. Don’t know what a zip line is? If you have seen the recent Geico commercials with the “wheee” pig, then that is what you can expect. You can ride this for just a mere $20, less than a meal a many casino restaurants.
Absinthe
A show that is definitely not for the politically correct crowd is Absinthe at Caesars Palace. It is one part comedy, one part Cirque de Soleil and one part burlesque show. Well, that is if the creators of South Park or Rocky Horror Picture Show ever decided to undertake such a project. The show is performed inside a quaint tent outside of the casino and the audience is many times part of the act. If you do not like crude, politically incorrect humor, this is not your show. However, if your inner Cartman is raging to get out, check out this show.
