    Spring Break Destinations

Choosing a Spring Break destination is a big deal for college students looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Before they get their minivans and two and a half children, students want to find out what the world has to offer! Here are five exciting, fresh Spring Break options for those who are on the prowl.

    South Padre Island, Texas

Heading out to South Padre Island promises to be exciting and different from Cancun and other played-out destinations. The beach sands are fine and the locals are welcoming. With 34 miles of gorgeous rolling waves upon powdered sugar sands, Spring Break students won’t have a moment to think about classwork.

    WHAT TO DO:

    • Visit Laguna Madre Nature Trail
    • Photograph the creatures at Sea Turtle, Inc.
    • Swim at Schlitterbahn Beach Park

    The Bahamas

You can easily find cheap hotels in the Bahamas, where coconut milk runs freely and cheerful locals play great music on the streets. For Spring Break, almost nothing is better than one of the Bahamian islands: each one offers its own unique surprises, but every single one has gorgeous beaches for snorkeling and sunbathing.

    WHAT TO DO:

    • Shop at Port Lucaya Marketplace
    • Enjoy the free Junkanoo Festival
    • Eat fresh, delicious conch

    Saint Petersburg, Florida

You might never have heard of Saint Petersburg Beach, but you will! It has rolling white mounds of soft sand, a plethora of exciting beach side bars, and all of the fun boutiques you could ever hope to visit over Spring Break. Saint Petersburg was once rated the number one beach in America, as was the nearby beach Fort De Soto, making this area a winner for Spring Break goers.

    WHAT TO DO:

    • Eat at Twisted Treats
    • Take the fairy to Egmont Key
    • Shop in nearby Tampa

    Las Vegas, Nevada

Not every Spring Breaker wants to bother with sticky sand and sunburns. For those students who crave excitement indoors, Las Vegas is a great choice. There are plenty of affordable hotels, free attractions, and fun things to do in the nearby mountains. Your group will love getting away from crowded beaches this year and finding out what Vegas has to offer.

    THINGS TO DO:

    • See the Blue Man Group at the Monte Carlo
    • Eat exquisite Korean-Mexican fusion at KoMex
    • Visit the nearby Hudson Dam & Grand Canyon

    New Orleans, Louisiana

Get a little funky and festive for Spring Break: go down South and party with the Cajuns in New Orleans. The fresh Gulf air is salty, and the food is spicy enough to make grown men weep. New Orleans has gotten a little less formal since Katrina, but it’s still just as much fun with just as much flare.

    THINGS TO DO:

    • Visit the French Quarter at night
    • Enjoy a Mississippi River Booze Cruise
    • Take a Swamp Airboat Adventure with your friends

Spring Break visitors should remember to be safe and travel with friends when they go out at night. While the tired old destinations like Cancun have been played-out, there are still fresh beaches to discover and fun hangouts to haunt.
