Holidays are hard work, especially for mums – long haul flights with a little one are always “slightly interesting” then on top of that you have to plan to be away from your job, so why would we voluntarily fly halfway around the world with a family in tow?
Well here it is. Be it Phuket, Chiang Mai or Koh Samui, here are our top reasons why you should go and enjoy the wonders of Thailand, even with children in tow! Don’t forget to book your family friendly accommodation on Expedia hotels to get the best deals.
A Welcome like no other
There is good reason why Thailand is known as ‘The Land of Smiles’!
Thai people are friendly, happy, generous, polite and tolerant (we could go on), more than can be said for a lot of the world!
They are very autonomous and proud that they have managed to keep their identity and traditions in spite of all the tourism that Thailand now attracts. This attitude and lifestyle make Thailand the perfect place for a family holiday.
Heatwave!
Thailand has a sub tropic climate that dictates it will always be hot! The best time to go for families is perhaps November to February when the weather is slightly cooler and not as humid as the other months.
Child friendly
When Thailand is mentioned, most people think of travellers and parties, or luxurious holidays, what they don’t think is ‘family friendly’. Yet Thailand is great place to go with children. The Thai people themselves are very friendly and family orientated but there is also an abundance of things to do with children, from simple beach trips to marine parks and nature reserves.
You will also find that many of the hotels offer great childminding services. Speaking from experience, it doesn’t get much better than this!

A food lover’s dream
It is a commonly known fact that the food in Thailand is exquisite, a unique blend of salt and spice, sweet and sour. Once you have eaten in Thailand you will find that not even the top Thai restaurants in London can compare to the real thing!
The best food can often be found being cooked on the streets. There is nothing like wondering around the bright, bustling markets, sampling the street food on a hot Thai evening – perfection!

Rocking the water
Thailand is the place for water sports. From snorkelling to windsurfing and waterskiing, you name it, you can do it. Both Phuket and Koh Samui abound with jet skis, windsurfing, diving, Koh Samui has professional kite boarding instruction, one of the hottest watersports to hit Thailand in recent years.

It’s perfectly affordable!
Thailand is known for its low cost of living and when that is allied to some of Thailand’s holiday deals you know that you are going to get a great time affordably. If you are a lone traveller exploring the country, a family of four or a couple your money will go a lot further than it would many other places in the world.

Snorkelling, water sports, massage parlours, nature havens and party hotspots – all are found on the beaches, so if you fancy hip and happening, a secluded, tranquil paradise or a fun filled family activities Thailand is the holiday for you.

And, relax………….
Thailand is the perfect place to relax. Unlike the vast majority of the western world the Thai are more concerned about their spiritual happiness than material wealth. This transmits to the lifestyle and many people head over on holiday to sample the delights of Thai massage, sauna and meditation. On top of the physical experiences you will also encounter beautiful sunsets, secluded beaches, mystical lagoons and religious harmony.
If you need to unwind, why would you go anywhere else?
I think I’ve just decided on our family’s next vacation destination. Child friendliness is the number one priority for our family since we have four little ones that are always ready to be entertained. Italy was great but Mexico was far more children friendly, some destinations are great for adults but not so much for children. My wife will most likely give a nod to Thailand as well and even the timing’s perfect because we’ll most likely be leaving in February, when it’s actually cooler than most months out of the year.
Glad it was of use! My little girl loved it! there was so much to do, and it was so chilled, it was the perfect child/adult friendly holiday!
