Here are some activities to enhance a summer vacation that everyone is sure to enjoy.
Camping
The first activity is to go camping. Camping is a way for a parent and child to connect. It is a way of building memories that will last for the rest of their lives. Part of making the activity unforgettable is preparing for it. Get the kids involved by asking questions, such as where they want to go on the camping trip. Maybe there is a campsite just outside of town. Find out if the campground has a fireplace. If so, take the kids and purchase some firewood, chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows for making s’mores. For the kids, it becomes much more personal when they can take ownership in what they helped make the activity possible. If a tent or sleeping bags need to be purchased, take the whole family with to the store. Although it can be a chore to have the kids at an outdoor retailer, the kids are realizing that they will be going on this camping trip for an unforgettable summer vacation activity.
Backyard Hangout
If you don’t have the time of money to go on a trip out of town, take a break in your own backyard. Set up a tent, some games, and a barbeque. Make sure you are really on vacation and don’t bring technology or work with you in the backyard. The whole family can enjoy this break, so long as you do a few different activities. Another great aspect of this vacation is if you forget anything it is an easy trip to the house to get whatever you need.
Swimming
Another great activity is going swimming. Swimming is fun, whether the family gets together in a hotel pool or the beautiful ocean or lake. Before this activity begins, be sure the kids know how to swim. Swimming lessons are vital in enabling kids to enjoy the water. Unfortunately, some children are afraid of the water, but swimming lessons encourage them to face their fear and learn to swim. There are many activities and games to do in the water. It might be fun to purchase a beach ball or some inflatable rafts for kids and adults to play on. Families need to have fun together and the water is a great invitation to do so.
Amusement Park
Amusement parks have something for every age. The young kids can enjoy kiddie rides and the teenagers and adults can seek adventure on the roller coasters. After riding separate rides the whole family can get together to enjoy water rides or easy rides like the Ferris wheel or train ride. As your family grows and ages you can try different amusement parks based on the interests of the family at the time. Younger families might enjoy Disney World and older families might enjoy places like Universal Studios and other parks with a lot of rides. For a fun time have each family member take turns picking the ride, so everyone gets a chance on a ride they want to ride.
These activities are just the beginning. Summer activities are fun and memorable because everyone is involved. Enabling kids to participate in the planning process and equipping them beforehand makes the summer vacation activities even more enjoyable.
