Winning the lottery is something most people dream about on a regular basis, wondering about all the different things they could do with the money. Although not everyone has the same idea about what they would spend their money on, it’s a safe bet that many would spend it on luxury. Some would choose flashy cars, some would put it towards a new home, and some would choose to take some time out to go on a luxurious holiday.
If you’re a lottery winner who’s looking for somewhere to go to spend your winnings, you’re looking for somewhere to save up for in future, or you just want to see how the rich people live and make yourself extremely jealous, check out this list of some of the most luxurious (and expensive) holiday destinations in the world.
1. Zephyr Palace, Costa Rica
Located amongst many nature reserves, with a gorgeous view of the ocean and rainforest, along with its own private beach, Zephyr Palace is one of the most exquisite hotels for nature-lovers. Enjoy a drink at the snack bar on Caletas beach, which is less than two miles away from the hotel, or enjoy a massage at the spa. Strengthen and relax your body with a yoga class, then go for a swim in the infinity pool which seems to merge with the ocean, brining you closer to nature. The hotel is located in an area which is famed for its flocks of scarlet macaws, and is a perfect destination for those who love nature. Look out for exotic birds, beautiful cats and more. Suites at Zephyr Palace start at approx. £6000 per night.
2. Isla De Sa Ferradura
This is a private island located off the coast of Ibiza. For around £150,000 you can stay for a week and enjoy a suite with a garden terrace, fine dining with Spanish-French meals prepared by the chefs, as well as regional meals from Ibiza using local fruit and vegetables, seafood and meat. Chill out in the entertainment centre whilst you enjoy a movie on a flat screen TV, get active and go water-skiing, jet-skiing, surfing and more, or relax in the spa, located in a separate cave, which offers a Turkish bath, solarium, sauna, a beauty salon and more.
3. Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas (Bridge Suite)
Atlantis Paradise Island actually has some pretty reasonably priced rooms, at least in comparison to what we’ve seen here. However, the Bridge Suite is a lot more pricey at around £10,000 a night. This suite is suspended between the two Royal Towers and provides 10 rooms including a living room spanning 1,250 square feet and a dining room complete with a 22-karat gold chandelier. The living room features twin entertainment centres as well as a grand piano and guest bath, and in the master bedroom you’ll find a walk-in closet. Twin master bathrooms feature whirlpool tubs and giant showers, the balcony, spanning 800 square feet, provides a 360 view of the resort and the ocean.
4. Necker Island, British Virgin Islands
Ever felt like your holiday would be a lot more relaxing if there weren’t so many loud and annoying people around? Then why not hire out Sir Richard Branson’s private island with your friends? For about £30,000 a night you can enjoy water sports, tennis, various spa treatments, a gym, a cinema and entertainment area just footsteps from the beach, and much more! If you don’t want to hire the whole island, singles and couples can enjoy “celebration weeks” when the island will liven up with parties, giving you the opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the island with new friends or a loved one.
5. Aurelio Lech, Austria
If sun isn’t your thing and you’re more into snowy getaways where you can hit the slopes by day and cosy up in a cabin by night, then Aurelio Lech could be the ideal place. For around £1000 to £2000 a night you could hire out a luxury suite and enjoy activities such as heli-skiing, paragliding, tobogganing, ice skating, and even riding in a horse-drawn sleigh. The resort includes two spas, a meditation centre, numerous pools and a fitness complex, and is visited primarily by younger folk who are looking for a laid back holiday.
Of course there are many other places which are even more luxurious than these, and if you’ve got the money to spend, you should definitely keep browsing, because there are some truly spectacular places that you can visit around the world. If like most of us you don’t have the money to spend, and you’re starting to feel sick with jealousy, you’ll be glad to know that the article ends here. Just remember, money isn’t everything, and it can’t buy you everything. But it sure can buy you a lot of stuff.
