If you love your share of spook, then why just stay content with horror films and Poe’s stories? India itself is a treasure house of some bone-chilling places. Just a one day trip would suffice and if you are lucky, you may come face to face with some of our dear, departed friends!
Here are some of the most haunted tourist places in India. Check them out soon so that you can finally rest in peace:
1. Bhangarh, Rajasthan: Rajasthan is a state with multiple facades to it. While we have all heard of the grandeur of Udaipur’s forts and Jaipur’s palaces, not all of us know that this desert land also holds the most haunted place in the country. Welcome to Bhangarh, a small uninhabited and ruined town which has the perfect settings of a clichéd Bollywood film! With ‘khandars’ (dilapidated buildings) all around and not a soul in sight, this place can give you the creeps. Though many believe that the tales surrounding its ghostly image are merely inflated rumors, the government doesn’t allow anyone to pass the night in the town. Explore some other haunted places of Rajasthan with Rajasthan tour packages will be more pleasurable.
2. DumasBeach, Gujarat: How does it sound when one says that Dumas Beach is a combination of the sea and the ‘shamshaan’ (cremation center)? Yes, this beach is the spot where dead bodies are burnt by Hindus as per the ritual. No doubt, the place has that spooky ambience! Besides, it is not hard to believe that supernatural activities have been experienced at this corner. Even the thought of the sea laced with ghostly presence sends a shiver down the spine! As a tourist, it would be a really one-of-a-kind experience to visit the place!
3. Kurseong Dow Hill, West Bengal: Move over to the state of West Bengal in the eastern part of India and walk into the dense forests of Kurseong Dow Hill! And with the cold mountainside wind whispering behind your neck and the tall trees casting their creepy shadows in your path, you will surely get the chill even before the spirits arrive! While the atmosphere and ambiance can definitely give a run for money to the scariest of Hollywood films, the ghostly image of this place is further bolstered by the fact that there have been paranormal sightings, unexplained murders and unsolved mysteries.
4. Raj Kiran Hotel, Mumbai: If you thought that you will have to travel to some remote Indian village to walk over to a haunted place, then this hotel situated in the biggest metro city in the country refutes all your claims. There is one particular room in the Raj Kiran hotel which is no longer rented out. It is believed to be haunted after most of its guests have gone through some heart attack-giving moments like sighting of a pale apparition, hallucination and things moving & flying on their own!
5. RamojiFilmCity, Hyderabad: This region is haunted by the spirits of dead soldiers. The hotels out here have been built over a ground which was once a battle-field. Most of these ghosts are indecent, uncultured hooligans who love to tease the women and play peeping Tom!
I have went to Dumas Beach 4 years back. I didn’t feel any kind of Supernatural presence. People confuse it with roaring and hissing sound of the sea waves hitting the shore, Many places like that exist in India like in my state Orissa there’s a famous place called Puri. It has one of the magnificent sea beaches found in India. One particular part of the beach is known as “Swarga Dwara” meaning “Gateway to Heaven”. Here many Hindu people are burned each and every day. Even the folklore says the place is haunted but I never felt so. Even one day out of personal problems & tension I sat there entire night but I didn’t get any such presence of supernatural entity. So how come people feel it. It means they fear the darkness among themselves which leads to these kinnof thought’s.
I have seen a lot of horror movies and haunted places, hotel rooms in reel life. but I dont have any experience about supernatural presence in real life. After reading this page I want to feel it, experience it, so definetly i would visit Bhangarh, Rajasthan. Thanks for sharing this unique haunted places.
