    Tulips and windmills are not the only attractions one can look for in Holland. The country is boasting of extravagant museums, picturesque sites and open-mind ideas. For those who want to learn more about the Netherlands, below is a list of top 5 attractions in Holland.

    Delta Project

    Delta project is probably the most interesting spot in the country in terms of science and development. The project started in 1950 and ended in 1977. It was aimed to protect Zealand and Southern Holland province’s coastal territories from floods. The system includes floodgates, dams and hurricane barriers. This beautiful eco-system was noticed and appreciated by American engineers as one of the7 modern world miracles. To explore Delta you will need at least couple of days, the best budget places to stay over are various hotels in Holland.

    Vrijthof square in Maastricht

    The most famous square of the most southern city in Holland has several cathedrals that are doubtless great attractions for any tourist.   Saint- Servatious cathedral and Saint Jan cathedral are forming incredible picture of religion and antic architecture. The square is also a popular place for festivals and large carnivals that gather thousands of visitors each year.

    Hoge Veluwe National Park

    Hoge Veluwe is the largest national park in the Netherlands. The park includes forests, flower valleys and sand drifts. Animals, living in the park are protected by the Dutch government, they run free and are not scared of human. There are also three interesting museums you can visit while in Hoge Veluwe. The most visited is believed to be Kreller-Muller, which has several famous paintings by Van Goughe. Most of the territory is prohibited for car entrance so the best way to get there is by a tourist bus. So you don’t get tired walking each visitor is given a bicycle.

    Kekenhov Park

    World famous flower park Kekenhov is located in Lisse. Each year approximately seven million flower bulbs are being planted in the valley. It is interesting that not only famous Dutch tulips are presented in the Kekenhov but also hyacinths, daffodils and lots and lots of other colorful and beautiful flowers. The place is open from the last week of March to mid-May. Gardens are also one of the most visited sites in the Netherlands so be sure to get there in the morning when there are few people.

    West Frisian Islands

    West Frisian is a chain of beautiful islands that stretch along the North Sea coast of Holland. They go farther east, where they transform into the East Frisian Islands, which belong to Germany, but in this case we are interested only in Holland. So, in the Netherlands there are licensed guides that will show you how to get to some of the above-mentioned islands on foot – it can be done at low tide. West Frisian Islands is a great place to be explored by bike, just as most attractions in the Netherlands. It is also a charming gateway from noisy cities. The islands are simply made for relaxation; they have incredible nature, interesting sites and truly perfect service that will make everything to make your vacation unforgettable.
