The island of Majorca is one of the Mediterranean Sea’s most popular tourist destinations. With a great climate, stunning natural landscape and friendly people, the island is popular for families, couples and anyone looking to explore the beaches or dive in the island’s clear waters. With a local cuisine that is rich in seafood and olive oil, there are over 2000 restaurants serving healthy, local dishes. The main city of Palma is a real tourist hotspot, with plenty of lively entertainment, bars and places to eat as well as being home to some of the more important examples of historical Spanish architecture. The beaches in Majorca are a particular highlight, so let’s take a look at a few or the beaches that are well worth a visit.

The Colonia Sant Jordi Area
Colonia Sant Jordi is a popular tourist area with all the bars and restaurants you would expect, but there are a couple of hidden gems just a small distance away. Just take a short walk from this busy resort and you can find either Es Dolc or Es Carbo, two stunning beaches that remain incredibly untouched by the tourist trade – or indeed anything else. These beaches are reminiscent of a genuine tropical paradise and the gentle white sands are the perfect place to relax and unwind in total peace.
Both beaches are impeccably clean and either would make for a perfect late evening or even sunset stroll. While you won’t find many busy bars or restaurants near the beach, just a short walk inland will lead you to a few traditional, local restaurants for a perfect candlelit end to an evening.

The Cala Llombards Area
This beach is not one of the popular tourist areas, so if you are looking for somewhere with a little more privacy to base yourself from, then this is the perfect area to head for. Surrounded by picturesque pine woods and with crystal clear waters, this is also a great place for snorkelling or diving. The main beach is just a short (and very pleasant) walk away from the small village of Cala Santanyi which is another nice place to explore. One of the best things about this area is that there is an amazing viewing point where you can get unparalleled views across the island. The Cala Llombards area is situated in the Southern part of Majorca, away from many of the more tourist heavy parts of the island.
