The Best Beaches for a Hollywood Sunset

Whether it’s a rom-com or a tearjerker, no good Hollywood movie is complete without the romantic sunset scene. Watching the sun set is always a magical experience, so relax beneath the palm trees, watch one of nature’s very best light shows and make your holiday one to remember. Here’s our guide to the best beaches to enjoy your very own Hollywood sunset with that special someone. Now all you need is your very own Tom Cruise!

    Clifton Two, South Africa

Serenely set in Cape Town, this is where the locals come to relax and unwind after a hard day’s work. If a game of bat and ball on the shore or catching the waves isn’t your thing, there’s nothing better than sharing a bottle of wine as you watch the paddle surfers across the bay. Visit between December and March for the most romantic sunset.

    Coral Beach, Scotland

It might surprise you to see a beach so close to home make the cut, but it’s hard to beat the beautiful orange glow of a summer sunset on the Isle of Skye. The beautiful landscapes of Bonnie Scotland have inspired poets and artists for hundreds of years and after watching the sun go down on Coral Beach, you won’t find it hard to see why. Just a few miles away from Dunvegan Castle, the powder-pink shores offer the ultimate relaxation and romantic setting.

    Benirras, Ibiza

Known as the resort where most people are just beginning their fun at sunset, there’s far more to Ibiza than its party scene. The picturesque bay of Benirras boasts a distinctive rock formation and attracts yachts and drummers to see off the day and build up an atmosphere for the coming night.

    Sunset Point, Indonesia

Sunset is definitely the highlight of the day on the relaxed and car-free island of Gili Trawangan, and what better place to watch it than at the aptly named Sunset Point? This is a real island retreat where you can end yet another day of snorkelling and soaking up the rays watching the sun go down and enjoying an ice cold beer. Well someone has to!

    Jericoacoara, Brazil

If you choose Brazil from the beach holidays from secretescapes.com, you should make sure you head to Jericoacoara. Known affectionately as ‘Jeri’ to the locals, this stunning beach is home to the Duna do Pôr-do-sol, or “Sunset Dune” where you should head to watch the sun dip below the horizon. Bring a blanket, cosy up and enjoy the languid changing colours in the sky.

    Yandup, Panama

The San Blas Archipelago is made up of almost 400 beautiful islands along the Caribbean Coast and though Yandup is just a twenty minute flight from Panama’s capital, it feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Swim between islands, take in the laid-back and traditional atmosphere and flop down on the sands at the end of the day for that movie-perfect sunset moment.

    Cape Leveque, Western Australia

124 miles north of Western Australia’s Broome, you can’t get much more off the beaten track than Cape Leveque. The red sand cliffs of this remote peninsula provide the most stunning backdrop to the dazzling sunset and the beautiful view will take your breath away.
