    Discover Nevada at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve

    Most people the world over know about the gambling side of Vegas and that the city has a rich history relating to the gold rush. You are missing some of the best information about Vegas though, if you have never visited the Springs Preserve. This educational and interesting attraction is a great adventure for all ages and has so much to offer in the way of history, nature and science relating to the area.

    Desert Living Centre

    The desert living centre is a collection of seven different buildings. This is the spot to head if you are interested in learning about “green” building materials, alternative fuel types, composting and recycling. There is also the opportunity to learn about nature and gardening in the activity centre, which is entirely powered by the sun’s energy. This area is also home to an amphitheatre and venue for conferences or events.

    The Origen Museum

    Housed within the museum are three galleries and seventy-five permanent exhibits that explore the area’s history and culture. There are also a number of live animal habitats that are sure to please. Before you leave the Origen museum be sure to stoop by the indoor theatre.

    Nevada State Museum

    This thirteen thousand square foot gallery will be a big hit with anyone who loves fossils and history. A couple of must see points in this museum are the stalactite cave that you can stroll through and the exhibit that furnishes you with a first person experience of an atomic explosion. Due to the mining history in Nevada, there is also a great exhibit about the miner’s complete with holographic tour guides to explain your journey through the exhibit.

    That is only the beginning. You will want to be sure that you take a day for the Springs Preserve. There are 3.65 miles of trails just waiting for you to discover them. The trails are reminiscent of a walk through the ages, as you can expect to see items relating to the railroad, water and even an archaeological dig. In all, the preserve has 110 acres of display and natural gardens that house Mojave Desert cacti and wildlife habitats.

    Anyone who has experienced the Springs Preserve will tell you not to miss the experiences that it has to offer. Perhaps, the best thing about a trip to the preserve is that there is no problem finding accommodations due to its proximity to Las Vegas. Just a quick internet search and you can learn more about this attraction and the hotels that are near it.  That way you can be the person telling people that this is a great experience while you show them the enviable photographs from your family vacation.
